I started my journey to become a counselor during my first semester of college. I enrolled in a psychology class, and subsequently, found my passion. Everything about the class spoke to me and it was a perfect fit so I decided to major in psychology. I graduated from Florida State University in 2003, but quickly realized, I was eager to do more in the counseling arena. I applied to graduate school and was accepted to the University of South Florida, so I packed up and moved to Tampa, not knowing a soul. Since that point, I obtained my Master’s degree in 2006 from USF and began practicing in the field of counseling. In 2009, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor as well as a Certified Addiction’s Professional. My passion is to help people find healing, acceptance, and peace which I firmly believe is possible. Since no two people are the same, my goal is to tailor counseling to fit the needs of each client in order to enhance the opportunity for insight and growth. Additionally, in this profession, great mentors and teachers are needed. Because of that, I pursued and obtained my Ph.D in Counselor Education. This will allow me the great privilege to teach and train new counselors for this important field.
